The Universal Health Care Foundation of Connecticut wanted to make healthcare a key issue for everyone in Connecticut. But we knew the only way legislators would talk about it was if their constituents were talking about it—something the insurance companies certainly did not want. We decided to make that the angle.
People don’t like being silenced. And if they feel they are, there’s a good chance they’ll turn up the volume. We realized that after conducting market research—and created a darkly humorous television campaign. It got people talking about universal healthcare by reminding them that “a lot of powerful people don’t want us talking about Connecticut’s healthcare crisis.”
