To compete effectively for top talent in a competitive market, UMass Memorial Health couldn’t just continue to promote signing bonuses and other perks. It needed to create a persuasive, differentiating “employer brand platform” — one that offered prospective employees (”Caregivers” in their culture) a better reason to choose UMass Memorial.

Idea

Research showed that prospective Caregivers want more than more money and benefits. To attract that talent, we knew it was important to show that UMass Memorial Health truly cares about its team members and their lives. So, we crafted a recruitment platform that emphasized that they value everything prospects bring to the table. And “We hire you” was born.

Social media posts enabled us to emphasize how UMass Memorial Health supports every aspect of “you” and to tell more about different Caregivers and their lives.

Like other campaign elements, print ads featured real UMass Memorial Health Caregivers, details of their lives, and information about how they feel valued and supported.

Impact

Overall, the campaign significantly exceeded expectations, achieving 7.5 times its original hiring goal. While the initial target was to recruit 150 Caregivers, it resulted in 1,134 new hires.

In addition, qualitative feedback highlighted a meaningful cultural impact within UMass Memorial Health. Caregivers expressed a heightened sense of pride in their colleagues and a stronger connection to the organization, particularly appreciating the campaign’s authentic approach of featuring real team members.
