To mark their 40th anniversary, Saybrook Point Resort & Marina wanted to refresh their brand — from their logo to their website to their marketing — to reflect their new offerings and experiences. After diving in and doing plenty of research, we realized what most differentiated them is their unique location where the Connecticut River meets Long Island Sound…a one-of-a-kind destination that’s been celebrated for many eras.

Idea

Our new brand logo showcased Saybrook Point’s iconic, landmark lighthouse…as well as the legendary sunrises and sunsets the location is known for. And our brand positioning was infused into an integrated campaign that featured content marketing, print ads, emails, and social media — all of which helped tell the resort’s many stories, each set against the beautiful backdrop of the Connecticut shore.

We developed a distinct brand and label for a new, custom IPA Saybrook created in partnership with Myrcene Brewery. Drawing on Saybrook’s history and the legacy of award-winning marina manager Kate Mosley, “Harbor Master” sports a trident-wielding mermaid ruling the water. The brewery can hardly keep up with demand.

Print ads highlight core experiences, from weddings to corporate retreats to sustainability efforts, using a consistent visual approach that lets the setting do the work. View ads.

The refreshed email system brings consistency to imagery, typography, and tone — making each send feel like a natural extension of the brand rather than a standalone message.

Content marketing further brings Saybrook stories to life. This long-form cinematic piece focused on Saybrook’s signature oysters, documenting their journey from source to plate and highlighting Saybrook’s exquisite culinary offerings and its and commitment to sustainability. Watch the video

Impact

Our rebranding and campaign helped reposition Saybrook Point Resort & Marina at the perfect time — just as Connecticut’s phased COVID-19 reopening began. It generated more business when it was needed most, and also generated:

  • 26 separate earned media placements at the start of the launch
  • a Telly Award for our video on the Inn’s “sea to table” restaurant
  • 700% increase in Return on Ad Spend (ROAS) for paid media
